Assignment #1 (50 points total)
Part A: Make images that could illustrate the following descriptions:
1.Complementary Contrast. Use colors that are opposite one another on the color wheel, such as a yellow building against a blue sky.
2. Passive contrast. Use a warm color against a cool tone. The proper proportions of each are critical in making this work.
3.Primary contrast. The juxtaposition of two primary colors can make for a bright, vibrant, strong sense of feeling. (red, blue, yellow)
4.Complex Contrast. Complex contrast uses many contrasting primary colors and requires careful handling, or the point of emphasis can become confused or lost in an array of colors. With the proper treatment, the multicolored use of contrast can cause tremendous visual excitement and provide a strong interplay of the objects within a composition as well as connecting seemingly diverse elements.
Part B: Make images that could illustrate the following assignment: Make photographic images that use the monochromatic color concepts to create a visual power. Monochromatic images can be of all the same color with different hues or multiple of colors all within the same end of the color spectrum (warm or cool) as per the slide lecture. There must be color. Subjects that are mostly neutral colors (Black, White, Gray) will not be accepted.
